What is a certified product?
-
A certified product has successfully passed certain tests by TÜV Rheinland, for example for safety and quality. TÜV Rheinland issues a certificate for this test result. This confirms which product characteristics have been tested and states the relevant standards on which the tests were based.
To ensure that the certificate does not just represent a snapshot in time, TÜV employees subsequently monitor the company’s manufacturing plant at regular intervals and check whether the products manufactured there adhere to the test sample tested. In this way they ensure that the products’ certification remains valid.

What Is a certified company?
-
In “certified companies” processes and work procedures are based on a management system. First, TÜV Rheinland employees check that the management system devised by the company complies with the standard. TÜV Rheinland employees then conduct an on-site assessment to examine whether the company is actually adhering to the defined processes. If the test is successful, they award the certificate.
TÜV tests management systems again at regular intervals. This is to ensure that all employees are actually complying with the processes, and that the management system is adapted to any changes within the company.

What Is a Certipedia ID?
-
The Certipedia ID forms part of the TÜV Rheinland test mark and serves as a key to all certificates issued by TÜV Rheinland. This ten-digit number enables access to all the tested characteristics of a product, service or organization at any time via the Internet and mobile devices. In the Certipedia certificate database, it is possible to perform a targeted search for ID numbers, products and companies.
Using the Certipedia ID, interested parties can correctly classify a product or company within a few seconds. They are also safeguarded against forged test marks: If a product displays a false ID, a glance at the description on the Internet is enough expose the fault.
